Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, pearl drop earring, and a pearl necklace, after the portrait by Jody Clark. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs across the upper field, with ISLE OF MAN continuing to the right. The engraver's initials JC appear below the truncation to the left. The date 2020 is inscribed at the base of the coin, flanked by small decorative dots. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a smooth proof field, framed by a delicate inner bead border.

Aanvullende informatie

The Battle of Britain commemorative series from the Isle of Man has produced a crowded field of half sovereign-sized issues over the years, each tied to a specific aircraft type. The Hurricane is historically the more defensible choice for commemoration — it accounted for the majority of German aircraft destroyed during the summer of 1940, yet the Spitfire has long claimed the popular imagination, leaving the Hurricane chronically underrepresented in both historical memory and collector focus.

Struck to standard 22-carat sovereign specification, this issue falls within the Isle of Man's long practice of licensing the sovereign format from the Royal Mint framework while issuing independently under Crown Dependency authority.
