Obverse description Facing bust of Emperor Zeno, helmeted and pearl-diademed, cuirassed, with a spear held upright in the right hand behind the head and a shield decorated with a horseman motif carried on the left arm. The effigy is rendered in the formal, frontal imperial style characteristic of late Roman gold coinage, conveying martial authority and divine legitimacy. The obverse legend is disposed around the bust within the field.
