| Obverse description | Right-facing bust of Valentinianus II rendered in high relief, pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed, with finely detailed hair arranged in tight rows of beads characteristic of late antique imperial portraiture. The emperor's youthful effigy is presented with a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, visible over elaborately decorated armor.
