Beschrijving voorzijde Bust of Valentinian II facing right, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late Roman imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian period. The emperor's effigy is depicted with a string of pearls forming the diadem across the brow, the paludamentum draped over the left shoulder, and the cuirass visible at the chest. The legend D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG runs around the periphery in Latin capitals, interrupted by the portrait. The beaded border frames the entire obverse field, typical of late Roman gold coinage struck at the Thessalonica mint.

Opschrift voorzijde D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG
(Translation: Our Lord Valentinian, pious and blessed emperor.)
Beschrijving keerzijde The personification of Constantinopolis seated facing on a throne adorned with lions' heads, her helmeted head turned to the right. She holds a long sceptre in her left hand and a globe in her right, with her right foot resting on the prow of a ship, symbolizing naval dominion. The mintmark appears in the exergue. The legend CONCORDIA AVGGG is divided across the field, referencing the harmony among the three co-ruling emperors. The composition follows the standard late Roman reverse type for Theodosian-era solidi, with a beaded border encircling the design.
