Obverse description Youthful draped and cuirassed bust of Valentinian II facing right, adorned with an elaborate rosette diadem composed of multiple floral elements and pendilia, the hair rendered in fine parallel striations beneath the diadem. The emperor's paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder and the cuirass is visible at the chest, conveying imperial military authority. The obverse legend D N VALENTINIA-NVS IVN P F AVG encircles the effigy, divided across the field, affirming his status as Junior Augustus. The portrait displays the characteristic late antique style of the Constantinople mint, with a refined, idealized rendering befitting an imperial gold issue.
