The emperor's hair is elaborately styled with rows of beaded curls surmounted by a prominent pearl-studded diadem, with a long strand of pearls descending behind the ear. The legend D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG runs clockwise around the periphery in crisp, well-struck Latin capitals.
