Obverse description Draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valentinian III facing right, adorned with a rosette diadem and pearl necklace. The imperial effigy is rendered in the late antique style characteristic of fifth-century Western Roman coinage, with carefully modeled drapery over the cuirass. A fibula is visible at the right shoulder, securing the paludamentum. The encircling Latin legend runs along the border of the flan, which is notably irregular as is typical of hammered solidi of this period.
