Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian II facing right, adorned with a pearl diadem and elaborate jewelled necklace with pendant. The emperor is depicted as a young ruler, his hair elaborately coiffed with rows of pearls, reflecting the courtly style of the late 4th century. The paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder with a fibula, and the cuirass is richly detailed. The circumferential Latin legend reads D N VALENTINIANUS IVN P F AVG, framing the imperial effigy within a beaded inner border.
