In his right hand he holds a labarum — the Chi-Rho standard — while his left hand extends a globe surmounted by a small Victory figure facing left. The composition conveys imperial authority and divine favour, characteristic of Valentinianic solidus reverse types. The divided legend RESTITVTOR-REIPVBLICAE, meaning 'Restorer of the State', arcs around the field, with the mint mark appearing in the exergue. |
