The effigy is rendered in the frontal, hieratic style characteristic of late Byzantine coinage, with bold, stylized facial features. | 背面描述 | A cross potent set upon three steps occupies the center of the reverse, a design emblematic of Byzantine imperial theology and the triumph of Christianity. The reverse legend is disposed in the field to either side of the cross. In the exergue below the steps appears the mint signature CONOB — indicating the Constantinople mint and the standard fineness of the gold — preceded by an officina letter denoting the specific workshop. The composition is clean and symmetrical, consistent with the refined die-cutting conventions of the Constantinople solidus series of this period. |
