| Obverse description | Facing bust of Emperor Theodosius II, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed, with the head turned slightly to the right. The emperor holds a spear in his raised right hand, positioned over the right shoulder, while his left arm bears a large round shield decorated with a horseman motif. The portrait reflects the formal, frontal military style characteristic of fifth-century Eastern Roman imperial coinage. The obverse legend is inscribed in Latin around the periphery of the flan. |

The mintmark CONOB, denoting the Constantinople mint and the standard fineness of the solidus, is inscribed in the exergue, with an officina letter preceding it. The reverse legend, recording the vow inscriptions commemorating the twentieth anniversary of Theodosius II's reign with wishes for a thirtieth, is disposed across the field divided by the central figure. |
