The emperor's effigy displays a military cuirass with detailed pteryges visible at the shoulder, fastened at the center by a circular fibula with rosette decoration. The portrait occupies the full field with confident high relief, the facial features rendered in the characteristically stylized manner of early 5th-century Ravennate coinage. The circumscribed Latin legend encircles the bust within an outer border of raised dots. |

| Mô tả mặt sau | The emperor Theodosius II stands in three-quarter view facing right, wearing military dress, his right foot placed firmly upon a seated bound captive symbolizing vanquished enemies of Rome. In his raised right hand he holds a labarum staff bearing the Chi-Rho christogram, while his left hand presents a Victory figure standing on a globus and extending a wreath. The composition conveys imperial triumph and divine favour in the established late Roman iconographic programme. The mintmark RV COMOB appears in the exergue, identifying the Ravenna mint and confirming the fine gold standard. |
