Obverse description Frontal bust of Theodosius II, helmeted and cuirassed, facing slightly to the right, wearing an elaborately crested helmet adorned with a pearl diadem. The emperor is depicted in military dress, with a decorative cuirass and paludamentum visible at the shoulder. His right hand is raised holding a spear over the right shoulder, while his left arm supports a shield ornamented with a horseman motif. The surrounding field carries the Latin imperial legend, and the overall portrait style reflects the increasingly hieratic, frontal convention characteristic of early fifth-century Eastern Roman coinage.
