| Beschrijving keerzijde | Emperor Leo I depicted nimbate and enthroned facing, clad in consular robes, holding a mappa in his right hand and a cruciform sceptre in his left hand, projecting divine imperial majesty. A star appears in the left field as a celestial symbol. The exergue bears the mint mark identifying the officina and mint. The composition follows the standard consular solidus iconographic scheme of the Eastern Empire, rendered with the stiff, frontal formality typical of the period. |
