| Beschrijving keerzijde | A cross potent set upon three steps, the principal reverse device of the Justinianic solidus and a powerful symbol of the Triumph of Christianity. The field is plain on either side of the cross. The reverse legend VICTORIA AVGЧ Γ runs along the upper periphery, with the officina letter appearing before the mint signature. In the exergue, the mint mark CONOB denotes gold of the Constantinople mint struck to the highest standard of fineness. The composition follows the established Byzantine solidus reverse type introduced in the late 5th century and maintained with minor variations into the 8th century. |
