| Obverse description | Facing helmeted and cuirassed bust of Justin II, portrayed in imperial military dress with slight variations across emission types: certain issues depict a slightly bearded emperor (BCV#344, BCV#348), while others show a beardless effigy (BCV#346, BCV#347). The emperor holds a Victory figure mounted on a globus cruciger in his right hand, conveying imperial authority and divine favour. The bust is rendered in the frontal hieratic style characteristic of sixth-century Byzantine coinage, with fine detail in the helmet decoration and cuirass ornamentation. The Latin legend encircles the portrait field. |
