| 正面描述 | Crude hammered imitation of a Carolingian solidus obverse, depicting a stylized draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Louis the Pious facing right, rendered in a barbarous degenerate style characteristic of Frisian workshop production. The emperor's head is shown with schematic facial features, including a large eye and simplified drapery folds at the shoulder. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, the lettering debased and partially retrograde, reflecting the illiterate copying tradition of the period. The overall design is a distant derivative of the imperial portrait type established under Louis the Pious (814–840), reduced to a schematic effigy by successive copying. The flan is irregular and slightly convex. |
