Obverse description Frontal helmeted bust of Emperor Honorius, pearl-diademed, clad in cuirass bearing a staurogram (Chi-Rho cross), facing the viewer directly. The emperor holds a spear diagonally over his right shoulder and carries on his left arm a large round shield decorated in relief with an equestrian scene depicting a horseman trampling a fallen enemy. The legend encircles the bust, rendered in crisp Latin capitals. The portrait typology follows the late antique military convention, conveying imperial authority through a frontally composed, rigidly hieratic effigy.

Reverse description The personification of Constantinopolis seated frontally upon a throne, helmeted and draped in imperial robes, her head turned to the right. In her raised right hand she holds a long scepter, while her left hand supports a Victory standing atop a globe; her right foot rests upon the prow of a ship, symbolizing naval supremacy. A star appears in the left field, and the mint control mark COMOB is inscribed in the exergue. The encircling legend CONCORDIA AVGGG alludes to the concordance of the three Augusti, reflecting the collegiate dynastic ideology of the Theodosian house.
