| Obverse description | Two imperial effigies facing, derived from the Byzantine prototypes of Heraclius and Heraclius Constantine; both figures are draped and wear crowns surmounted by a triple ornament. The larger, bearded figure at left represents the senior emperor, while the smaller, beardless figure at right represents the junior co-emperor. The design reflects early Umayyad imitative coinage that retained Byzantine iconographic conventions while incorporating Arabic religious legends in the field. |
