| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Virtus, rendered as a helmeted soldier in full military dress including cuirass, pteryges, and paludamentum, stands facing left in a commanding posture at the center of the field. In his raised left hand he holds a long scepter surmounted by a decorated finial, while his right hand grasps a spear or standard. Two captive barbarians, in crouched and submissive poses, are depicted prostrate at his feet on either side, symbolizing Roman martial supremacy. The mint mark TES appears in the exergue, identifying the Thessalonica mint, and the encircling legend VIRTVS - EXERCITVM is separated by the central figure, all within a beaded border. |
