| Obverse description | Facing bust of Emperor Constantius II in military attire, pearl-diademed and wearing a crested helmet adorned with a diadem, cuirassed, rendered in the frontal three-quarter view characteristic of late Roman imperial portraiture. The emperor holds a spear diagonally over his right shoulder in his right hand, while his left hand supports a large round shield decorated in relief with a horseman trampling a fallen enemy — a motif conveying martial supremacy. The obverse legend arcs around the bust, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The engraving reflects the bold, hierarchical style of fourth-century Roman coinage. |
