Aanvullende informatie

Constantius II issued this solidus during the years he consolidated sole rule over the empire following the suppression of the Magnentius usurpation — a civil war that had bled the western mints and disrupted gold coinage flows across the provinces. The Rome mint, reopened under Maxentius decades earlier, was by this period producing relatively limited quantities of gold compared to the great eastern workshops at Constantinople and Antioch, which makes Rome-mint solidi of this reign scarcer in the record than their eastern counterparts.

RIC VIII 291 places this firmly within a tightly bracketed emission. The GLORIA REI PVBLICAE reverse type was shared across multiple mints simultaneously — a deliberate coordination signaling imperial unity after years of fracture.
