The emperor wears a paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder and a muscled cuirass decorated with pteryges, with a beaded torque visible at the neck. The portrait exhibits the refined, idealised style characteristic of Constantinian-era gold coinage, with high relief modelling and crisp die engraving.
