| Reverse description | Two enthroned personifications — Roma facing front at left and Constantinopolis seated to left at right, her feet resting on the prow of a ship — are depicted jointly presenting an inscribed votive shield. The shield, held between them in their extended right hands, bears the dedicatory inscription VOT / XXX / MVLT / XXXX, commemorating the thirtieth vow and anticipation of the fortieth. Roma holds a spear in her left hand, while Constantinopolis grasps a scepter in hers. The reverse legend GLORIA REI PVBLICAE, meaning 'Glory of the Commonwealth,' frames the composition, with the mintmark CONS appearing in the exergue, denoting the Constantinople mint. |
