Aanvullende informatie

Constantius Gallus was appointed Caesar by his cousin Constantius II in 351 and given control of the East — a decision Constantius II would come to regret almost immediately. Gallus ruled from Antioch with increasing brutality, executing officials and provoking riots, until Constantius II summoned him west under pretense of consultation and had him beheaded in 354. The Thessalonica mint, operating under western imperial oversight, struck solidi in his name throughout this turbulent caesarship.

His coinage is notably scarcer than that of contemporary senior emperors, the reign cut short at roughly three years.
