Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Constantius Gallus facing right, draped and cuirassed, with finely rendered hair swept forward and a paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder; the cuirass is decorated with a rosette fibula at center chest. The portrait exhibits the characteristic youthful physiognomy of a Caesar of the Constantinian dynasty, with high-relief modeling typical of mid-fourth-century Nicomedian goldsmith work. The encircling Latin legend reads D N FL CL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, distributed around the obverse field.
