| Obverse description | Bare-headed, diademed bust of Constantine I facing right, wearing a plain fillet diadem with the gaze directed upward in the characteristic idealized portrait style of his later coinage. The emperor's neck is truncated at the base, and the finely rendered hair is swept back in layered waves with a central parting, reflecting the Hellenistic-influenced court portraiture of the Constantinian period. The face is rendered in a three-quarter upward gaze, lending a divine, almost transcendent character to the effigy. No legend is present on the obverse of this particular type, with the imperial titulature reserved for the reverse field. |
