| Beschrijving voorzijde | Enthroned frontal figure of Christ Pantokrator, nimbate with a cruciform nimbus, seated upon a high-backed throne with footrest visible at base. Christ is robed in imperial loros-style drapery and raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction while his left hand rests upon a book of Gospels supported on his knee. The figure is rendered in the hieratic Byzantine style characteristic of the middle period. A circular border legend reading IhS XPS REX REGNANTIUM surrounds the effigy, separated from the central design by a beaded inner border. |
