The VICTORIAE DD AVGG ("Victories of our two Augusti") coinage of 347–348 was issued jointly by Constans and Constantius II to celebrate twenty years of dynastic rule under the house of Constantine — the so-called vicennalia of the Constantinian dynasty. Trier remained one of the western empire's most productive mints at this point, still functioning as a major imperial residence and administrative hub despite the gradual eastward drift of imperial attention.
Constans himself was dead within three years, murdered in January 350 during Magnentius's coup near the Pyrenees — the last western emperor of his line to hold power.
