| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing bust of the Emperor Arcadius, pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed, with head turned slightly to the right. A Christogram is prominently displayed on the breastplate, reflecting the Christian iconography adopted by the late Roman imperial court. The emperor holds a spear over his right shoulder in the martial tradition of Roman imperial portraiture, while his left arm bears a large shield decorated with a horseman motif.
