Obverse description Frontal bust of Emperor Arcadius, helmeted and cuirassed, facing forward in the late antique imperial military style. The emperor wears a elaborately decorated helmet adorned with a crest and pearl diadem, and his cuirass is richly ornamented with a gorgoneion or decorative pectoral device. In his right hand he holds a spear angled over his right shoulder, while his left arm bears a shield decorated with an eagle or rider motif. The surrounding Latin legend reads D N ARCADI-VS P F AVG, denoting Dominus Noster Arcadius Pius Felix Augustus.
