正面铭文 AEL FLAC-CILLA AVG
(Translation: Aelia Flaccilla Augusta)
背面描述 Winged Victory seated right upon a throne, holding a shield resting on a column with her left hand while inscribing a chi-rho Christogram upon it with her right hand. The composition reflects the Theodosian synthesis of Roman Victory imagery with Christian symbolism. The reverse legend surrounds the type, with an officina letter appended to the legend, and the mint and purity mark CONOB appearing in the exergue.

附加信息

Aelia Flaccilla was Theodosius I's first wife and the first empress to appear on the solidus in her own right — a deliberate political statement about dynastic legitimacy at a moment when Theodosius desperately needed it. He had been elevated to augustus in January 379, just months after the catastrophe at Adrianople had killed Valens and gutted the eastern army. Associating the new dynasty with a pious, Roman-born empress was calculated messaging.

The Constantinople mint's output for Flaccilla is relatively constrained, making RIC IX 49 scarcer than its western counterparts.
