| Additional information |
Guidobaldo II ruled Urbino under the long shadow of his father Francesco Maria I, who had spent decades clawing the duchy back from papal confiscation. By the time Guidobaldo took power in 1538, Urbino's mint was producing a full range of denominations, but the soldo sat at the practical edge of everyday commerce — small enough to circulate hard, too small to hoard. Few survive in collectible condition for exactly that reason.
CNI XIII references for this type document multiple die combinations across the long reign, suggesting continuous if modest production over several decades.
