| Obverse description | A large, elaborately rendered fleur-de-lis occupies the central field, its petals and scrollwork in high relief against a slightly granulated ground. The heraldic lily, symbol of the French Crown, is boldly struck and dominates the entire flan. Surrounding the central device, the circular Latin legend MON. NOV. ARGENTINENSIS (New Money of Strasbourg) runs along the inner border, with a small cross serving as a stop at the top. The coin's edge is defined by a finely executed inner bead or denticulated border, consistent with the milled coinage of the Strasbourg mint under Louis XIV. |
