Obverse description Saint George depicted in full armour, mounted on a rearing horse facing right, brandishing a raised sword in his right hand. Beneath the horse, the slain dragon is shown prostrate on the ground, its serpentine body coiling across the lower field. The armoured rider wears a plumed helmet and a surcoat bearing a cross. The scene is rendered in the robust, late-Gothic hammered style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Low Countries coinage. The circular Latin legend runs along the inner border, separated from the central device by a beaded inner ring.
