| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the shield of Savoy — a plain cross on a field — rendered in a bold, simplified heraldic style characteristic of medieval hammered coinage. The shield occupies the majority of the flan, with the design struck in low relief. A partial legend in uncial Latin characters surrounds the shield, reading AMEDEVS, identifying the issuing count Amadeus V of Savoy. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped, as is typical of hand-struck deniers of this period. |
