| Obverse description | Central field features a large shield frame enclosing a smaller inner shield bearing the arms of Oldenburg, the whole device superimposed upon a cross with slender, elongated arms extending to the coin's edge. The Latin legend, invoking the royal title of King John I of Denmark, is arranged around the periphery and is divided into four segments by the arms of the cross. The lettering is rendered in Gothic script typical of late medieval Danish hammered coinage. |
