The inscription, reading 'May Allah perpetuate his reign in the religion and his glory,' is characteristic of Malay sultanate coinage of the 17th century. A border of small pellets or dots encircles the legend, following the contour of the roughly circular planchet. The surface retains traces of original silver plating over the tin substrate, now partially obscured by patination and corrosion.
