Aanvullende informatie

The Corieltauvi occupied much of what is now Lincolnshire and Leicestershire, and their coinage developed largely in isolation from the more heavily Romanized tribes to the south. This particular unit belongs to the proto-coinage phase — a period before the tribe adopted more standardized regional types — placing it among the earliest numismatic output attributed to this group with any confidence.

The three-pellet arrangement is a diagnostic feature used by specialists to distinguish die groups within this scarce series. Van Arsdell's sequencing puts this type early in the Corieltauvian development, predating the more regular struck coinage that emerged as Roman political pressure intensified following Caesar's expeditions of 55 and 54 BC.
