The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and Suffolk, operating as a nominally autonomous client kingdom under Roman oversight following Claudius's invasion of 43 AD. The tribal structure held until 60 or 61 AD, when the Romans seized Iceni lands upon the death of king Prasutagus, flogged his widow Boudicca, and assaulted her daughters — triggering the most serious provincial revolt Rome faced in Britain. Coins of this type were likely already out of production by then, struck in the preceding decades of uneasy coexistence.
The "Small Head" classification distinguishes this die grouping from related Norfolk God types by the proportionally reduced head rendering, a distinction first systematized by Van Arsdell.
