The Corieltauvi occupied the East Midlands and Lincolnshire basin during the late Iron Age, and their coinage developed largely independent of the Kentish tribes who had the most direct exposure to Gaulish monetary influence. This unit belongs to a class named for the abstracted canine figure long interpreted as a wolf — an identification that remains debated among specialists, with some arguing the animal is too ambiguous to classify with confidence.
No mint site has been archaeologically confirmed for Corieltauvi coinage. Most examples enter the record through metal detector finds across Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
