The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and parts of Suffolk, operating a mint — or more likely several dispersed production points — that issued silver coinage in the final decades before Roman conquest. Their monetary system collapsed not with Claudius's invasion of 43 AD but earlier, through client-king arrangements that steadily subordinated tribal authority. This piece falls squarely in that transitional window, when Iceni silver was being produced under increasing Roman political pressure but before outright absorption.
