Silver Unit 'Dobunnic D' - Antedios

The Dobunni occupied the Cotswolds region and parts of the Severn Valley, and by the time Antedios was issuing coinage the tribe had split into factions — a pro-Roman northern group and a more resistant southern one. Antedios is associated with the northern leadership, which likely explains why his coins circulated into the conquest period without immediate suppression. These small silver units were struck in the final years before Claudius's invasion of 43 AD effectively ended independent British tribal coinage.
