The upper register contains the legend CVNO in raised relief, while the lower register reads BELIN, together forming the royal name CUNOBELIN. The tablet is framed by a plain linear border, with a pellet or annulet ornament visible above the panel in the upper field. The entire design reflects the Romanising influence on late British Iron Age coinage, presenting a purely epigraphic composition in place of a figural type.
