Obverse description The obverse bears a bold tablet design executed in the Late Celtic epigraphic style, comprising a rectangular panel divided horizontally by a double bar into two registers. The upper register contains the legend CVNO in raised relief, while the lower register reads BELIN, together forming the royal name CUNOBELIN. The tablet is framed by a plain linear border, with a pellet or annulet ornament visible above the panel in the upper field. The entire design reflects the Romanising influence on late British Iron Age coinage, presenting a purely epigraphic composition in place of a figural type.
