| Obverse description | Stylised abstract design in the La Tène Celtic tradition, featuring a degraded laureate head derived from a classical prototype, rendered in a highly schematised manner. The central field displays a prominent curved element suggestive of a face or skull, flanked by pellet clusters and curvilinear relief forms characteristic of Dobunnic coinage. The surface is uneven due to the irregular flan and hammered production technique. No inscription or legend is present, consistent with uninscribed issues of the Dobunni tribe. The design is executed with bold, deeply cut relief elements typical of the Cotswold-type silver unit series. |
