| Beschrijving voorzijde | Stylised Celtic head facing left, rendered in abstract curvilinear fashion characteristic of Late Iron Age British coinage. The most distinctive feature is the prominent lips rendered as raised stalks or tendrils projecting from the face, a hallmark of the Hayling Island type. The hair is depicted as a series of corded or rope-like strands arranged across the crown and extending into the field. The facial features are reduced to their essential elements in keeping with the Celtic artistic tradition of abstraction. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic patination. |
