Obverse description Stylised male head facing right in the characteristically abstracted Celtic artistic tradition, occupying nearly the full flan. The face is rendered with a prominent, wide-open eye, a broad nose, and a strongly curved crescent-shaped element beneath, possibly representing a lunar motif — the feature from which the type takes its name 'Moon Man'. The hair is depicted as a series of closely-set raised ridges or corded strands sweeping back from the forehead in a decorative arc. The overall treatment is bold and plastic, typical of late Iron Age British coinage derived from Gaulish prototypes.
