Obverse description Central crowned shield bearing the double-headed Imperial eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, rendered in the heraldic style typical of Habsburg coinage of the early sixteenth century. The crown surmounting the shield is depicted in fine detail with visible arches and cross finial. The shield occupies the majority of the field and is surrounded by a beaded inner circle. The circumferential legend in Latin reads within the outer border, naming Charles as Emperor of the Romans and King of Spain.
