| Obverse description | Two opposed waterfowl (ducks) rendered in the La Tène decorative tradition, their bodies arranged symmetrically about the central field, heads turned back in characteristically stylised Celtic fashion. The forms are deeply struck in high relief with boldly curved outlines, supplemented by ring-and-pellet motifs occupying the interstitial spaces. The flan is irregular and the silver plating partially worn or flaking, consistent with the piece's identification as a contemporary counterfeit of reduced weight and base metal core. No inscription or legend is present, the design being entirely geometric-zoomorphic in character. |
